Understanding & Supporting Sensory Processing Needs

Sensory Assessment

Helping Children Navigate Their Sensory World

At Milestone Occupational Therapy Services LTD, our Sensory Assessments are designed to evaluate and support children experiencing sensory processing difficulties. We help identify challenges and develop strategies to improve daily functioning, emotional regulation, and overall comfort.

What is a Sensory Assessment?

A Sensory Assessment examines how a child processes and responds to sensory input from their environment. This includes:

  • Tactile Processing – Sensitivity to touch, textures, and physical contact.

  • Auditory Processing – Reactions to sounds and background noise.

  • Visual Processing – Difficulty with tracking, sensitivity to bright lights, or visual clutter.

  • Vestibular & Proprioception – Balance, coordination, and body awareness.

  • Gustatory & Olfactory Processing – Sensitivities to certain tastes and smells.

Children with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), ASD, ADHD, DCD, and other neurodevelopmental conditions often experience challenges in these areas, impacting their ability to learn, play, and engage comfortably.

Our Process

  1. Comprehensive Evaluation – Assessing sensory preferences, sensitivities, and responses.
  2. Tailored Sensory Strategies – Developing personalised plans to manage sensory challenges.
  3. Practical Interventions – Hands-on techniques and exercises to support sensory regulation.
  4. Collaborative Approach – Working with parents, teachers, and caregivers for consistent support.
